This london-based design duo used upcycled Mennonite petticoats as upholstery fabric, with beautiful results!
London-based design duo Clarke & Reilly (founded by husband/wife team Bridget Dwyer and David Grocott) describes their style as "unashamedly romantic and tirelessly imaginative." In addition to designing (or "dressing") glamorous yet subtly disheveled interiors, the couple also offers reimagined one-off pieces and curios for sale in their retail showroom. Working with artisans, the pair layers antique and vintage textiles in their designs, creating a new history for something already old (case in point: theGeorgian Armchairs covered in 19th century Mennonite petticoats, shown in the first photo below). Their London showroom is at 8 Porchester Place; in addition, an installation of their pieces can currently be seen (and purchased) at Blackman Cruz in Los Angeles.
